{"id":161,"date":"2020-11-07T16:45:46","date_gmt":"2020-11-07T16:45:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.zebadger.com\/wp\/?p=161"},"modified":"2021-05-02T12:43:34","modified_gmt":"2021-05-02T12:43:34","slug":"fix-poor-quality-video-in-plex-under-docker","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.zebadger.com\/wp\/?p=161","title":{"rendered":"Fix poor quality video in Plex under docker"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve recently moved servers and instead of managing my own Plex install, I decided to go with the a docker install.\u00a0 It took seconds to sort out and I was very happy with it.\u00a0 That was until I enabled remote access.\u00a0 Suddenly, all my videos looks started looking terrible quality.<\/p>\n<p>This has been resolved by going to Dashboard -&gt; Settings -&gt; Network and under &#8220;Lan Networks&#8221; adding the values &#8220;<strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">172.18.0.0\/16<\/span><\/strong>,<strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">192.168.0.0\/24<\/span><\/strong>,127.0.0.1&#8243; (without the quotes).<\/p>\n<p>You will need to work out your own values.<\/p>\n<p>To work out the subnet for the plex container:<\/p>\n<pre>\u00a0 \u00a0 $ <strong>docker network inspect plex_default|grep Subnet\r\n<\/strong>                     \"Subnet\": \"<strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">172.18.0.0\/16<\/span><\/strong>\",<strong>\r\n<\/strong><\/pre>\n<p>To work out the subnet for your local network (in the majority of cases),<\/p>\n<pre>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0$ <strong>hostname -I | awk '{print $1}'<\/strong>\r\n\u00a0 \u00a0 <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>192.168.0<\/strong><\/span>.25<\/pre>\n<p>So, this needs to be : <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>192.168.0.0\/24<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><code class=\"language-bash\" data-lang=\"bash\"><\/code><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve recently moved servers and instead of managing my own Plex install, I decided to go with the a docker install.\u00a0 It took seconds to sort out and I was very happy with it.\u00a0 That was until I enabled remote access.\u00a0 Suddenly, all my videos looks started looking terrible quality.
